This Cookie Notice explains how 2951355 Canada Inc. (collectively DBA "Diverse Electronics" or "Diverse", "we", "us", and "ours") uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our website. It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.

This Cookie Notice is intended to comply with applicable privacy legislation, including but not limited to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), and U.S. state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), and other similar laws.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Diverse) are called "first party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g. like advertising, interactive content and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.

Why do we use cookies?

We use first-party and third-party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons for our website to operate, and we refer to these as "essential" or "strictly necessary" cookies. These cookies are "session cookies," which are erased when the user closes the Web browser. Other "persistent cookies" are stored for future visits, which enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our website. Retention of persistent cookies will not exceed the necessary period for their purpose. Where required by law, such as under Québec's Law 25, we ensure that cookie lifespans are limited and regularly reviewed. Third parties serve cookies through our website for advertising, analytics, and other purposes. This is described in more detail below.

The specific types of first and third-party cookies served through our website and the purposes they perform are described in the table below (please note that the specific cookies served may vary depending on the specific website you visit). By modifying your browser preferences, you may have the choice to accept cookies, to be notified when a cookie is sent, or to reject cookies. This is also detailed in the table below. The rejection or limitation of cookies may limit your ability to use our website.

For visitors accessing our website from Canada, and more specifically from Québec, we do not place non-essential cookies (including performance, functionality, and targeting cookies) unless you have actively given your express consent. This means that you may be presented with a cookie banner or pop-up window when you first visit the site, asking for your specific consent before such cookies are stored on your device.

Diverse

Because these cookies are strictly necessary to deliver the website to you, you cannot refuse them.

You can block or delete them by changing your browser settings however, as described below under the heading "How can I control cookies?"

Performance and functionality cookies: Performance cookies are used for web analytics to identify repeat visits and to enhance the performance and functionality of our website. These cookies are non-essential to their use. However, without these cookies, certain functionality may become unavailable.

By default, these cookies are set to expire after 2 years, although this is customizable by website owners. Functionality cookies are used to store the visitor's geolocation. This is to record location and update a page share count, as well as to track how often a user interacts with a web widget. These cookies also test whether a browser is set to accept first-party cookies.

Targeting cookies: These cookies collect information that is used either in aggregate form to help us understand how our website is being used or how effective our marketing campaigns are, or to help us customize our website for you (for example, as explained under "What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons and pixel tags?").

These cookies may also be used to make advertising messages more relevant to you. They perform functions like preventing the same ad from continuously reappearing, ensuring that ads are properly displayed for advertisers, and in some cases selecting advertisements that are based on your interests.

Where permitted by applicable law, these cookies may be used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other sites. For Canadian users, including those in Québec, such profiling activities will only occur with your express consent.

Cross-border Data Transfers

Your cookie-related data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States. These countries may have data protection rules that are different from those in your country. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information when it is transferred internationally, in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons and pixel tags?

Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website. We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons and pixel tags (sometimes called "tracking pixels" or "clear gifs"). These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has visited our website or opened an e-mail that we have sent them. This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within our website to another, to deliver or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to our website from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve site performance, and to measure the success of e-mail marketing campaigns. In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning.

Diverse may provide its product suppliers with a pixel tag to include on the supplier's website. The pixel tag is virtually invisible, but it will be, if included on supplier's website, served to your browser from www.diverseelectronics.com. By sending the pixel tag to your browser, Diverse has the opportunity to serve a cookie to you. This cookie contains a unique ID that allows Diverse to present a user, when the user interacts with Diverse personalized content. The use of the pixel tag and resulting cookie only allows Diverse to learn that the user visited the supplier's website and then visited Diverse's website. The cookie does not allow Diverse to learn other sites a user may visit. The information collected through this process may be used in activity reports and shared with our suppliers, but we do not use this information to identify or disclose your name or contact details.

Diverse may include pixel tags of certain suppliers on various pages of Diverse's website related to the supplier's products. If Diverse includes this type of pixel tag on its website, the supplier has the opportunity to serve a cookie to you, which will contain a unique ID that would allow the supplier to present personalized content to you when you visit the supplier's website. The use of a pixel tag and resulting cookie in this manner only allows the supplier to learn that a user visited portions of Diverse's website and does not allow the supplier to learn other sites the user may have visited.
